Do you guys really run a radio station?
Yes and no.
RadioWCPR.com is a registered domain but not a registered radio station. In 2000 we started spoofing small-town life with jokes and skits done in old-time public-radio format and it caught on, so we started RadioWCPR.com, a ficticious station hosted by the Museum on South Main.

Wow! Is this place a real museum?

No, it's actually our home, but your belongings age as you do, and then they are passed along to the next generation, so if you care for things well enough you'll end up with a lot of old things.

Do you actually use all of this stuff?

Yes, careful daily use is the best way to preserve old things. And our guests are very careful, too, except once we did amputate someone's leg for being rough with his drinking glass.

Which one of you is referred to as the Putterer?

Whoever is not in a recliner at the moment.

What is the cost of admission?

Admission to
The Museum on South Main or any of our affiliates is free to invited guests. Of course, there is the danger of losing a leg if you're rough with a drinking glass.

Do you need a College education to run a station like this?
To be best prepared, August did earn a
college degree.

How did this collection get started?

It started with handed down certificates and old chairs. Soon it was too difficult to hide, so we just started getting it out to use and display in period settings. We recently opened our certificates collection. Work is under way to organize materials for a past-address collection, an old-checkbooks-and-phonebooks collection, and the only known museum display of downsized employee memorabilia.

Why do you care for all these antiques?

We are keeping historic family items so those who follow us can sell them or throw them away.

Do you really have Patsy Kline's kitchen chair here?

We think so. An old vinyl-covered, chrome kitchen chair turned up in the garage. It must be Patsy Kline's because no better history has ever surfaced.

Is your head of security really a tom cat?

Acually, a cat was a good choice because he was here anyway when we moved in. Alf is a licensed guard cat and a sharply focused predator. Three things are important to Alf: naptime, mealtime and cuffing things that move. He fraternizes with guests but never neglects his rounds.

Who is August Busch?

August Henry Busch
(1883-1964) is our founder and guide to this day. Our business and way of life still follow his example. Our station manager, Donald August Busch, shares his first and last names and uses them as a pen name to pay tribute.

Isn't it illegal to use someone else's names?

Possibly, but our station manager thinks he's using his own names.

What are all these other people doing here?

The Museum on South Main
provides space for a number of affiliates. RadioWCPR.com is a local public radio station that moved in the same week we occupied the building. The Fatted Café came about to create better and less expensive food for staff members. The Inn at MSM was established to accommodate staff members who must travel between Harrisburg and Coudersport. We also operate a chapel, a fine library, a furniture restoration workshop and a snow storm inspection service right here on the premises.

Can we use the recipes from
The Fatted Café?
Yes you can trust the recipes at the
Café because it's the food we eat at the station. If you want to eat well with less preperation time, start eating at TFC.

Isn't it confusing to have so many affiliates?

Probably.
MSM provides space for a growing number of affiliates, which is not unlike a typical corporate model. But Corporate America creates affiliates for financial gain; we do it to stay busy.

Who stays at
The Inn at the Museum?
The Inn at MSM
is not open to the general public. We accommodate supporting members and staff traveling in and out of Coudersport, and that alone keeps the Bed and Breakfast on a full schedule.

Why are there so many
Adelphia trucks in Coudersport?
Coudersport is home to a TV cable provider. We have heard that Adelphia is Latin for "Corporate ATM" ... which comes from their business model, but they're thinking of changing that.
