Why do my eggs crack when I boil them?

Elva: “Well, you probably boil them too long.”

You mean your eggs don’t crack?

Elva: “No, you can’t boil eggs for very long. They crack and get rubbery inside.”

Okay, so here’s what Elva says to do:
Put your eggs in a pan with cold water. Salt the water well, bring it to a boil, uncovered, rolling boil. Then turn it off, cover it, and let it stand for 20 minutes.

Then pour off the hot water, and cool with cold water. There’s your hard-boiled eggs. Not rubbery, not green inside, no cracks.
