Okay, at a hardware or camping supply store, purchase one or two
mountain pie makers. They look like a long, double-handled, fat spatula.
Pull the handles apart and the large end breaks open to put ingredients
inside.

Preheat your closed pie maker in hot coals. When it's hot, break it open
and lay it on a burn-proof surface. In one half place a piece of your
favorite bread without touching the hot metal. Top the bread slice with a
portion of the filling you're using, top that with a second piece of bread,
and carefully fold the top half of the pie maker closed over the pie, lid-like.

Put the closed pie maker back in the coals for long enough to bake your
sandwich, turning to heat both sides. It doesn't take long; you'll get the
hang of it. Pull the pie maker apart slightly to see if the bread is toasted,
which means that the pie is done. Spread the halves to drop the finished
product onto a plate. The next pie is made right away because baking one
pie preheats the pie maker for the next one. So this can go on until
everyone is full or your ingredients are gone.

Some of the filling ingredients you can use include apple or cherry pie
filling and ham or other meat and cheese slices. You can experiment with
other foods, but we never found anything to top these.
